Call for Art: Miniature Art on a Chicago Theme to Travel to London

Call for Miniature Chicago-themed Art to Travel to Gallery in London, U.K.

The Angelica Kauffman Gallery is a miniature 1:12 (dollhouse scale) gallery that serves emerging artists and charges no fees or commissions. The gallery lives online, in a domestic setting, has been in the Terrain Biennial, and travels to be in public displays in full size venues.

In 2024, the box gallery will be traveling to London for in person shows in full size gallery in southwest London.
This call is for miniature artwork on a Chicago theme, that will be in a group show in a box gallery that is 12″ H x 16″ W x 12″ D.

Please read the following very carefully.

Getting the scale right is essential.  Artwork must be 4″ x 4″ or smaller. Doesn’t have to be square, does have to be miniature. ALL forms of visual art and contemporary craft are welcome (except video). For 2D work, the miniature panels by Trekkel work best as they’re very think. Miniature canvases are too thick.
This show is about what you LOVE about Chicago! Let’s go beyond hot dogs, show me your favorite haunts, how beautiful this city is, where you grew up, your favorite bridge – whatever you love about Chicago.

Artwork must be family friendly. Gallerist reserves the right to not show any work.
How to pitch. Fill out the google form. You don’t have to have made the piece already, you can share links to images of what you make at a larger scale and tell me what your plan is. if you get the go-ahead, please make the work and send it by the deadline.

Commissions and Shipping

The Angelica Kauffman Gallery does not charge commissions, but the full size venues that host us do charge reasonable commissions on sales. The micro gallery is entirely self-funded and because of that, we have to ask artists to pay their own shipping, (unless incarcerated). If we get a grant, we’ll pay shipping. If that happens, we’ll let you know.
We like to make this easy – you can enclose a way to ship your item back to you, or you can use Venmo or Ko-Fi to pay postage when it’s time to ship your mini mural back to you.

DEADLINE

Artwork must be received by February 1, 2024. Sooner is also acceptable. Submit on the google form by October 15, 2023 or sooner.
